Tellabs Acquires Zeugma, Opens Vancouver Office

Tellabs has acquired intellectual property and assets from Zeugma Systems. Financial terms were not disclosed. Tellabs has also hired key Zeugma personnel and will create a new research and development office in Vancouver to focus on developing Tellabs Mobile Solutions. Tellabs Mobile Solutions add intelligence to the wireless networks, so service providers can cut costs while delivering better user experiences on the mobile Internet.

  • Zeugma, a start-up based in Vancouver, Canada, developed a broadband edge aggregation device designed to help broadband operators identify, monitor, manage and customize service flows traversing their networks. Zeugma integrates routing, subscriber, and service management in a single platform powered by high-performance, multi-core packet processors. The company was established in 2006.


  • The name "Zeugma" referred to an ancient city founded in 300 B.C. by Seleukos, one of Alexander the Great's generals, on the banks of the Euphrates River in Mesopotamia.
