Nokia Siemens Networks announced plans to set up a Global Network Operations Center (GNOC) near Moscow. GNOCs are the cornerstone of Nokia Siemens Networks' global service delivery model and the company currently has three existing centers -- two in India and one in Portugal. The company's managed services business currently supports more than 380 million subscribers around the world.
NSN said the outsourcing of network management is gaining momentum in Russia and the CIS. Work on the GNOC is expected to begin early in 2011 and the center is expected to begin network management operations during the second quarter of 2011.
"We are committed to being a local player in Russia and this is a strong step in that direction," said Rajeev Suri, chief executive officer of Nokia Siemens Networks. "These network operation centers are what we call 'process factories,' where Russian employees can develop deep competencies in network management and operations."
Nokia Siemens Networks recently signed the Russia's first major network operations outsourcing deal with Mobile TeleSystems.
