Telefónica O2 Germany is preparing to launch an LTE pilot network in Halle, Germany using equipment from Nokia Siemens Networks. The network will be built in 2.6 GHz and Digital Dividend (800 MHz) spectrum and will reuse existing base station sites.
Nokia Siemens Networks said it will deploy the complete LTE overlay network comprising of Flexi Multiradio Base Stations and the Enhanced Packet Core (EPC) nodes Flexi NG and Flexi NS. The network will provide broadband capacity and coverage in Halle and its suburb Teutschenthal, an area where there is currently limited broadband access. Additionally Nokia Siemens Networks will manage and operate the network.
Telefónica O2 Germany has won both Digital Dividend and 2.6 GHz spectrum licenses to launch nationwide LTE services.
