MobileIron, a start-up based in Mountain View, California, has raised $16 million in Series C financing for its multi-OS smartphone management solutions.
MobileIron's Virtual Smartphone Platform allow companies to manage smartphone data, privacy, security, and cost across multiple operating systems using a single technology solution. This includes real-time intelligence and control over smartphone content, activity, and apps. For corporate iPhone and iPad users, MobileIron provides an application discovery features that allows them to install company-specific apps without going through iTunes. MobileIron enables IT departments to push profiles to iPhones without requiring any action on the part of the user. Certificates can be used to authenticate user and device identity. In addition, MobileIron allows IT departments to monitor international roaming in real-time.
The new funding came from Foundation Capital, which joined existing investors Norwest Venture Partners, Sequoia Capital, and Storm Ventures. The investment was led by Paul Holland, general partner with Foundation Capital. The funding will support MobileIron's ongoing business expansion and investment in innovation.
