Ubiquisys Secures $9 Million for its Femtocells

Ubiquisys, a developer of 3G femtocells, secured $9 million in new funding. In the past twelve months Ubiquisys has met a number of strategic milestones, including contracts with SFR in France and SoftBank, which is offering its femtocells for free in Japan and driving massive consumer demand. The company said its Femto-Engine software system has enabled the only femtocell with a wholesale price below $100.

The funding round was led by 5 Continents Consulting Group (5CCG), with participation from new investor Yasuda Enterprise Development Co. and existing investors Advent Venture Partners, Accel Partners and Atlas Venture.

Ubiquisys is based in Swindon, UK.
