Global Crossing Supplies IP-VPN for Major League Baseball

Global Crossing has provided an IP-VPN linking all 30 Major League Baseball ballparks and the MLB.com servers in New York City. The network enables live streaming video on MLB.com. Global Crossing installed 155Mbps fiber optic access loops at each ballpark and a 2.5 Gbps access loop in New York. The VPN runs over Global Crossing's global, IP-based MPLS network.

"Adopting managed services allows us to focus our internal resources on core competencies while servicing day-to-day requirements through technology delivered as a service," said Joe Choti, chief technology officer, MLB.com. "We selected Global Crossing because they were able to deliver the bandwidth and scalability we needed while being continuously accessible and meeting a number of significant challenges."http://www.globalcrossing.com
