Motorola Supplies Passive Optical LAN for Stony Brook University

Motorola's passive optical LAN (POL) solution has been installed at the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) at Stony Brook University in New York. Motorola teamed with Verizon Business and ADC to implement an all-fiber enterprise LAN infrastructure solution which provides a secure, energy-efficient and highly cost-effective alternative over traditional enterprise LAN architectures.

Verizon Business provided integration services and support surrounding the implementation while ADC provided all of the fiber-structured cabling components for the POL implementation at the Center. Motorola estimates ROI and low TCO at half the cost of copper-based LANs.
