Portugal's Optimus, the integrated telecommunications operator of Sonaecom, has completed HSPA+ Dual Carrier technology tests with Huawei. HSPA+ Dual Carrier technology allows theoretical maximum download speeds of up to 42 Mbps. The tests, performed 100% on the Optimus network, reached maximum download speeds of 41.4 Mbps and the average download speed reached 39.7 Mbps.
Dual Carrier technology is based on the principle of using two carrier waves, both on the transmitter and the receiver, which allows the increase of the transmission rate to double the current maximum value (21 Mbps).
