AirWalk Develops LTE Picocell with Mindspeed and Aricent

AirWalk Communications, which offers IP-based CDMA cellular radio network equipment, announced its first LTE picocell. The product was developed in collaboration with Mindspeed Technologies and Aricent. A proof-of-concept will be demonstrated at next week's CTIA Wireless 2010 conference in Las Vegas.

The LTE picocell incorporates Mindspeed's Transcede wireless baseband processor and associated components. It combines the latest RISC processor technology with a high-performance DSP processing array in a single chip, providing a complete low-cost/high-value processing capability. Aricent supplies the software solution, including selected elements from the Aricent LTE eNodeB stack portfolio.
