Heptagon, a private company based in Zurich, announced $22 million in venture funding for its wafer-scale micro-optics.
The new funding was led by GGV Capital of Menlo Park, California and included the participation of existing investors, including Innovations Kapital of Sweden, Innovacom of France and Nokia Growth Partners.
Heptagon develops optics which are glass-like in quality but manufactured in the same wafer-scale format as the CMOS image sensor, LED and VCSEL technologies. This enables the potential to quickly ramp from several millions to several tens of millions of components per month.
