Audience, a start-up based in Mountain View, California, has raised $15 million in Series D funding.
The Audience Voice Processor provides advanced noise suppression modeled after the human auditory system, the human hearing system. The company said its silicon is based on the science of Auditory Scene Analysis (ASA), or the grouping and processing of complex mixtures of sound. Because the Audience Voice Processor handles signals the way people actually perceive specific sounds, it is able to identify and suppress noise sources in an extremely efficient and accurate manner. The silicon is deployed in commercial handsets by LG, Pantech and Sharp, among others.
The latest round brings the company's total funding amount to date to $60 million. Investors include New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Tallwood Venture Capital, Vulcan Capital and VentureTech Alliance.
