Silver Spring Networks (SSN) has been selected by Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) to provide advanced networking products and services to build a Smart Grid network that will serve its 1.9 million customers in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Washington D.C. Under the multi-year agreement, Silver Spring Networks will provide network infrastructure, devices, software and a variety of services in support of PHI's efforts. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Initial deployments will occur in the Delmarva Power & Light service territory in Delaware, with full deployment to all PHI customers anticipated by 2013, pending regulatory approvals.
Silver Spring Networks supplies open, secure, proven networking platform supporting a variety of Smart Grid solutions, including advanced metering, distribution monitoring and control and home automation.
