Dell Launches Data Center Optimization Services

Dell is launching a consultation service to help enterprises adopt best practices in data center design, layout and configuration. Specifically, Dell Data Center Optimization Services aims to help customers find their "Hidden Data Center" -- unused capacity in their existing facilities that can be leveraged to avoid the significant capital expenditures required for building a new data center.

Dell's service will address the energy, capacity and cooling issues facing customers with practical, expert advice on how to bring efficiency to the current data center environment. Dell provides customers with specific actions designed to simplify and save in the data center. The service also includes a program to help refit and optimize an existing facility, or design a new data center to meet an organization's growing needs.

A majority of data centers were built during the dot-com boom and are reaching their 10-year lifespan, so it's no surprise that many companies are hitting a wall when it comes to data center capacity," said Dr. Albert Esser, vice president of Power and Infrastructure Solutions at Dellhttp://www.dell.com
