Apple Signs Major Studios for iTunes Movie Rentals

Apple's Steve Jobs introduced iTunes Movie Rentals, featuring movies from the major movie studios--20th Century Fox, The Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros., Paramount, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), Lionsgate and New Line Cinema. Apple expects to offer more than 1,000 movie titles by the end of February, including over 100 titles featuring in high definition video with 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound. Movie rentals are $3.99 for new releases and $2.99 for library titles. Customers have up to 30 days to start watching the movie, and once a movie has been started customers have 24 hours to finish it.


Apple also unveiled all new software for Apple TV, which is now priced at $229 for a 40GB version and $329 for a 160GB model (US and Canada).http://www.apple.com
