ShoreTel released an enhanced version of its unified communications solution and introduced two new telephones: the ShorePhone IP 265 (US$369), which features a high-contrast color display, and the ShorePhone IP 115 (US$159), an enhanced entry-level speakerphone.
ShoreTel's enterprise communications system combines embedded switch-based appliances with a unique distributed software architecture.
The new release, ShoreTel 7.5, integrates with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. Key features include a new "ShoreWare" Mobile Call Manager that extends to mobile phones the same visual communications environment that users see at their desktop. An "Office Anywhere" feature enables employees can redirect calls made to their office extension to their mobile device or any other phone. Mobile Call Manager's Quick Dial allows mobile users to find and connect to other people by searching the corporate directory and personal address book and placing the call with a click. Visual Voicemail offers a display of current voicemails, including a ten-second preview of each message. An integrated Call History offers a display of all the previous calls to an office extension.
ShoreTel 7.5 also offers greater flexibility for international deployments, including native BRI connectivity. With version 7.5, the ShoreTel IP Unified Communications system now supports 11 language packs and 20 countries' dial plans, allowing multinational companies to leverage an easy-to-use, easy-to-manage, single-image system across globally distributed locations.
The software upgrade to ShoreTel 7.5 is free of charge to ShoreTel customers with maintenance contracts.
