The WiMedia Alliance has certified the first silicon products based on its Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Common Radio Platform. A total of 12 platforms were certified from the following companies: Alereon, Artimi, Intel, Realtek Semiconductor, Staccato Communications, Tzero Technologies, WiQuest Communications and Wisair.
The next generation Bluetooth and Wireless USB based on the WiMedia specifications promise low power consumption and data rates of up to 480 Mbps in the wireless personal area network (WPAN).
