BroadLight Integrates VoIP into GPON ONT Chip

BroadLight unveiled its BL2347 chip targeted at lowering the cost of residential ONTs. The new device eliminates at least two bill of material (B.O.M.) components common on many ONTs. Key features include:

  • Embedded VoIP DSP for 4 concurrent ports, 3-way calling and T.38 fax


  • Embedded 4-port fast Ethernet switch


  • Gigabit Ethernet port with 1 Gbps bridging throughput all packet size


  • Flexible data port configurations with combinations of Fast and Gigabit Ethernet


  • ITU-T G.984 compliant and interoperability proven GPON MAC


  • PONMaker software for GPON and device operation


  • 19x19 PBGA-484 1.4W industrial temperature
    The BL2347 will sample to customers at the end of 2007.
