Motorola Debuts Dual Core AdvancedMC Module at <$2K

Motorola introduced an AdvancedMezzanine Card (AMC) designed to serve as a low-power, plug-in board for MicroTCA and AdvancedTCA systems for telecom applications. Other target markets include network-centric warfare, digital security surveillance, medical imaging and industrial automation.

The PrAMC-7210 is a full-size AMC based on based on the Intel Core 2 Duo processor core and Intel 3100 server-class chipset. It offers up to 4GB double data rate (DDR2) SDRAM with error checking and correcting (ECC) running at 400 MHz and on board flash disk. One x8 lane PCI Express link supports auto-negotiation to lower lane-widths and port bifurcation. Combined with two Gigabit Ethernet links, these standard interfaces enable developers to interface to a wide variety of high performance modules as required by their applications. Two SATA links enable high-speed serial communication with hard disks drives for flexible storage configurations.

This latest addition to Motorola's embedded communications computing portfolio has already been verified in Motorola's Centellis 1000 series MicroTCA communications server. A mid-size version, the PrAMC-7211, is also available. Mid-size modules are more suited to use in ATCA environments.
