ITU cancels ITU TELECOM EUROPE 2007

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has canceled its forthcoming ITU TELECOM EUROPE 2007 event in Sofia, Bulgaria, which had been scheduled for December.

"Naturally, the decision to cancel an event is a disappointment. However, we feel that we have reached the best decision for all event stakeholders, given the constraints of time in which we found ourselves operating," Said ITU Secretary-General Dr Hamadoun Touré.

The next ITU event will take place in Africa and Asia in 2008. An announcement on ITU TELECOM AFRICA is expected imminently. ITU's flagship ITU TELECOM WORLD will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, 5−9 October 2009.
