Tamil Rebel Group Gains Illegal Use of Intelsat Satellite

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a Sri Lanka-based group listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department, gained unauthorized use of one of Intelsat's satellites. This week, Intelsat officials, including its technical experts, met with Sri Lankan government officials to discuss the steps Intelsat is taking to address the unauthorized access.

Intelsat said it does not tolerate terrorists or others operating illegally on its satellites and is actively pursuing a number of technical alternatives to halt the transmissions. http://www.intelsat.com
