Openwave Acquires WiderWeb for Mobile Access

Openwave Systems has acquired WiderWeb Limited, a developer of mobile web access solutions, for $5 million in cash and a potential $4 million contingent earn-out. The acquisition provides Openwave with an open internet browsing solution that re-formats web content for mobile phones in a highly optimized, compressed and standards-based XHTML/MP format.



WiderWeb technology will be integrated into Openwave's mobile gateway infrastructure, which is designed to enable operators to offer consumers a broader range of content choices by delivering full Internet web pages in a user friendly and device intelligent format to mobile data-enabled devices. http://www.openwave.com
