Tropos Adds Former Qualcomm Exec as VP of Marketing

Tropos Networks announced the addition of Ellen Kirk as vice president of marketing. Previously, Kirk served as Vice President, Business Development, in the CDMA Technologies Division of Qualcomm, where she was responsible for creating W-CDMA handset strategies, defining initiatives for accelerating migration to 3G, and driving adoption of location-based services worldwide. In this role, Ms. Kirk was instrumental in creating global awareness of Qualcomm's gpsOne technology as the dominant method for locating wireless handsets. Kirk joined Qualcomm's leadership team through its acquisition of wireless-assisted GPS pioneer SnapTrac.
