Vivato Adds Tri-mode 802.11a/b/g Indoor AP

Vivato unveiled its new tri-mode 802.11a/b/g Indoor Wi-Fi Access Point (AP)/Bridge. The tri-mode functionality of each radio allows configuration in 802.11a and 802.11b/g mode simultaneously to service both 802.11a clients and 802.11b/g clients.

The tri-mode functionality of each radio allows configuration in 802.11a and 802.11b/g mode simultaneously to service both 802.11a clients and 802.11b/g clients. Vivato said this configuration is optimal for servicing bandwidth-intensive applications for clients operating in 802.11a and 802.11g modes, while also supporting the 11Mbps 802.11b mode.

Cross-band configuration of the AP/Bridge (one radio in 802.11a mode the other in 802.11b/g mode) allows it to act as an out-of-band bridge. In this configuration Wi-Fi service can be delivered in the 2.4GHz band while data backhaul is accomplished in the 5.8GHz band.

Target applications for Vivato's 802.11a/b/g Indoor Wi-Fi AP/Bridge include warehouses, universities, airports and military facilities. The VA4200 AP/Bridge will be generally available August 8, 2005.
