Iceland Telecom awarded a contract to Alcatel to upgrade its broadband access network to cope with increased demand for Triple Play services, including IPTV. Iceland Telecom has signed thousands of subscribers for IPTV since announcing the service four months ago. The contract covers deployment of the Alcatel 7302 Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) and the Alcatel 5530 Network Analyzer, an advanced diagnostic software tool designed to analyze the DSL network conditions to ensure the successful deployment of value-added broadband services. The new access network is expected to be fully operational this summer. Financial terms were not disclosed.
