The number of people in Europe surfing the Internet over a broadband connection reached 54.5 million in October 2004 -- an increased of 60% from 34.1 million a year earlier -- according to the latest report from Nielsen/NetRatings. The total number of Internet users in Europe (including dial-up) reached 100 million.
In terms of broadband usage, Italy enjoyed the highest growth rate, followed by the UK, France and Switzerland. http://www.netratings.com/
