Spirent Communications introduced VoIP support for its CopperMax DSL test platform. With this new CopperMax VoIP feature, service providers have the ability of emulating the customer premise equipment (CPE) by generating and receiving an IP call using both SIP and H.323 signaling protocols. This is important for diagnosing CPE related configuration and Voice Gateway problems. Once the call is established, performance analysis can be performed on the service using industry standard R-Factor techniques and providing the user a MOS score. This operation segments the service provider's network for trouble identification and resolution and allows the user the ability to see exactly what the customer is experiencing.
Spirent's VoIP feature set consists of a firmware feature release for the CopperMax test heads and REACT software. All existing deployments and new versions of the Spirent CopperMax test head, with logical testing support, can be remotely upgraded to support the VoIP feature. http://www.spirentcom.com
