Bookham has acquired Onetta, a start-up supplying optical amplifier modules and subsystems, for £13.0 million ($23.3 million). Onetta's Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFA) incorporate advanced optics, control electronics and firmware to provide leading edge performance. Onetta was founded in February 2000 by Dr. Robert MacDonald (previously with New Focus) and Dr. Yan Sun (previously with Lucent's optical networking group).
