Tekelec Adds VoIP-Enabling Wireless Media Gateway to SanteraOne Line

Tekelec introduced a wireless exchange media gateway series, the WX-8000, as part of its SanteraOne portfolio. The product, which is specifically designed to help carriers transition from second-generation (2G) to 3G networks, offers both native circuit- and packet-based fabrics. It complies with 3rd Generation Partnership Program's (3GPP's) Release 4 architecture and supports open interfaces for call management. The platform provides an integrated edge-routing capability and can be combined with native MPLS.

The WX-8000 series will be offered in two sizes. The 8500 is a high-density media gateway supporting up to 56,000 ports per shelf, and the 8300 is a medium-density media gateway supporting up to 16,000 ports per shelf. The 8300 is easily upgradeable to the 8500. http://www.tekelec.com
