Astute Networks Attracts $15M for Protocol Accelerators

Astute Networks, a start-up based in San Diego, closed a $15M round of venture capital funding for its silicon-based protocol acceleration solutions. The company is developing an Intelligent Protocol Processor (IPP) for handling stateful protocols like TCP/IP and Fibre Channel. The company said its IPP products program like a general-purpose CPU, yet deliver the performance and cost efficiency of a dedicated ASIC. The ease of IPP programmability reduces the risk and cost of new product development.

Astute Networks' second-round financing was led by new investor ComVentures and includes existing Astute Networks investors: U.S. Venture Partners, BA Venture Partners, Windward Ventures and Dali Hook Partners. http://www.astutenetworks.com
