Internet Photonics Enhances its Platforms for VOD

Internet Photonics announced significant enhancements to its LightStack MX optical multiplexing and transport platform aimed at operators who are deploying on-demand services and converged multi-service networks. The company said cable operators using its latest LightStack MX can cut their VOD transport costs per stream in half, enabling them to use 10 Gbps optics to build out service to smaller hubs. Additionally, the LightStack MX has been enhanced with protection switching, which enables cable operators to leverage the LightStack MX and its "VirtualWire" technology to deploy video on one "channel" and HSD, VoIP or commercial services on others. The protection switching allows the services to survive line outages without losing calls or dropping sessions. Finally, the LightStack MX now supports uni-directional optics for applications that only require one-way transmission, allowing transmission of VOD over a single fiber strand. http://www.internetphotonics.com
