Yahoo! Offers Access-Independent Premium Packages

Yahoo! will launch a premium Web service targeted at consumers and households transitioning from dial-up to broadband. Yahoo! Plus, which will be priced starting at $5.95 per month, offers a customizable browser and home page with streaming content, up to ten family accounts, a pop-up blocker, enhanced parental controls, anti-virus software, a personal firewall, anti-spam tools, enhanced Webcam functionality for Yahoo! Messenger and additional online storage for email and photos. It will also include Yahoo! by Phone, a service that allows consumers to send and receive email, and listen to personalized stock quotes, weather, sports and news, by calling a phone number and speaking commands.
