Former U.S. Defense Officials Named to Global Crossing's New Board

Global Crossing and Singapore Technologies Telemedia (ST Telemedia) named Global Crossing's new Board of Directors:

  • Chairman -- Lodewijk Christiaan van Wachem, former chairman of the supervisory board of Royal Dutch Petroleum


  • Vice chairman -- Peter Seah, president and CEO of Singapore Technologies Group


  • Directors -- E.C. "Pete" Aldridge, Jr. (former U.S. Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics), Archie Clemins (owner and president of Caribou Technologies), Donald L. Cromer (former president of the Hughes Space and Communications), Richard R. Erkeneff (formerly the president and CEO of United Industrial Corp.), Lee Theng Kiat (CEO of ST Telemedia), Charles Macaluso (CEO Dorchester Capital Advisors), Michael Rescoe (CFO of the Tennessee Valley Authority), and Robert J. Sachs (CEO of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association).


The board will also have a security committee comprised of former high-ranking U.S. military officials and individuals with U.S. Government security clearance.


ST Telemedia will become a 61.5% shareholder of Global Crossing upon consummation of the ST Telemedia-Global Crossing acquisition and Global Crossing's emergence from bankruptcy.
