Superior TeleCom Exits Chapter 11, Eliminates $1.1 Billion in Debt

Superior TeleCom, a supplier of communications wire and cable products to telephone companies, emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection having eliminated $1.1 billion in debt. Superior Essex Inc., a newly-formed company, has become the parent and holding company for two operating subsidiaries: Superior Essex Communications (formerly Superior Telecommunications) and Essex Group. In addition to cable wire, Superior Essex supplies magnet wire for motors, transformers, generators and electrical controls. The company is based in Atlanta, Georgia.
