3Com and Crossbeam Sign OEM Partnership

3Com will market, sell and support Crossbeam Systems' C30O and X45O security services switches to enterprise customers under the 3Com brand name. In line with 3Com's joint venture with Huawei and its strategy to pursue medium to large enterprises, Crossbeam's security services switches complement 3Com's existing security products. 3Com expects to begin offering Crossbeam's C30 and X45 security services switches to its enterprise customers in December 2003.

Crossbeam Systems, a start-up based in Concord, Massachusetts, offers a high performance security switch for delivering intrusion detection, firewalls, antivirus, web filtering and VPN services. The Crossbeam platform integrates deep packet processing capabilities with subscriber, network, and policy application awareness running on a Linux operating system to create an open, content service overlay network.
