Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (the "K-Line"), one of the largest shipping lines in Japan, awarded a $2.6 million renewal contract to Equant for its IP VPN service. Equant is providing an MPLS-based IP VPN covering company sites in nine countries on three continents. The shipping company is using the VPN for a new application to manage its day-to-day business processes, including booking, documentation and container inventory control applications. It also runs processes to manage vessel scheduling and itineraries, which are supporting these major applications. "K" Line will also add Equant IP Dial service, enabling traveling and remote employees to dial-in to VPN.
