Entropic Communications, a start-up based in San Diego, raised $29 million in series B funding for its communications chips for enabling broadband multimedia distribution in the home. Entropic's initial products will allow the existing cable coaxial cable inside a home to be used for HDTV, high speed data, Internet, voice, and multi-room gaming. Entropic's core technology, which is called c.LINK (CableLink), enables communications backwards through cable splitters. The company was incorporated in January 2001 and expects to ship its first products next year.
