Sandburst, a start-up based in Andover, Massachusetts, announced that Riverstone's XGS family of 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) switches are the first to use its Sandburst SANDWORKS Foundation Architecture. Sandburst's HIBEAM chip set and SANDWORKS Foundation Architecture can be configured for different applications through the selection of application firmware, memory size and switching capacity options. Choices range from low cost, high-density GbE line card solutions to performance-optimized configurations that deliver wire-speed 10 GbE switching.
