Avaya Introduces Security Gateways for Converged Enterprise Networks

Avaya introduced five new security gateways for increasing the security and simplifying the deployment of IP telephony applications in converged enterprise networks. Each of the security gateway integrates VPN functionality, firewall coverage and IP telephony support. The platforms feature an integrated bandwidth manager that can be customized to allocate specific bandwidth for up to 4 different classes of communications (such as e-mail, Internet access, and voice). They can also be configured to automatically recognize and prioritize IP telephony traffic. Two high-end models are designed for use in headquarters locations of medium- to large-sized businesses supporting multiple locations worldwide. Two other models address the demands of telecommuters, mobile workers and remote small office/home offices. A fifth model targets the specific requirements of small to medium-sized enterprises, as well as distributed branch office locations.
