TranSwitch Launches Ethernet over SONET/SDH Mapper

TranSwitch Corporation introduced a new EoS mapper designed to carry 10/100 Mbps Ethernet traffic and Gigabit Ethernet traffic over SONET at an aggregate bandwidth up to OC-12 rates in metro networks. The device leverages low order Virtual Concatenation (VCAT), enabling the flexible assignment of bandwidth to individual Ethernet channels in increments of 1.5 Mbps. TranSwitch already offers similar devices for OC-3 and OC-48. Typical uses include add/drop and terminal multiplexers, Optical Edge Devices (OEDs), multi-service access platforms, edge routers and IP DSLAMs.
