Seaway Networks, a start-up based in Ottawa, Canada, introduced a Network Content Processor (NCP that delivers 5 Gbps (full duplex) of layer 4-7 processing. Seaway's silicon architecture manages up to 2 million simultaneous TCP connections, enabling multiple advanced services at multi-gigabit rates. The device is specialized for data path processing but also provides layer 5-7 processing, including content searching, examination, modification, and replication. Seaway also incorporates advanced stream management and switching features to maximize processing efficiency, minimize memory and bandwidth usage, and enable multiple simultaneous applications.

- Seaway Networks is headed by Kit Fung, who previously was Vice-President of Research and Development at Nortel Networks for the Passport Multi-Service Switch product line. Seaway's technical team also includes David Lapp, who formerly led Nortel Networks' research on DiffServ/IP-CoS, security, and content networking.
Seaway has raised CDN$23 million in venture funding since its founding in 2001. Investors include VenGrowth Capital Partners, JK&B Capital, NovaCap and VentureCoaches.
