EZchip Unveils 10 Gbps Network Processor

EZchip Technologies announced its third-generation 10-Gigabit network processor. The NP-2 is a single chip, full duplex, 7-layer, 10-Gigabit network processor (NPU) that integrates a classification search engine, ingress and egress traffic managers, IPSec and SSL security co-processors, and storage and TCP co-processors. The company said putting all network processing elements in a single chip will enable system designers to reduce chip count, power and cost by as much as 80%. EZchip's new NP-2 uses low-power, high-density DRAM memories for all its lookup tables, data, statistics and control information.
