Zia Laser Raises $5.4 Million for its Quantum Dot Lasers

Zia Laser, a start-up based in Albuquerque, New Mexico received $5.4 million in Series B equity financing for its Quantum Dot (QD) laser technology. Zia specializes in 1310nm GaAs-based and 1550nm InP-based QD semiconductor lasers for metro, access, test and measurement communication systems as well as medical optical applications. The company said the new funding would enable it to launch commercial volume QD manufacturing and sales. The Series B equity financing was co-led by Prism Venture Partners and the RWI Group.
