Verizon Wireless to Launch 1xEV-DO Service in Washington, D.C.

Verizon Wireless plans to launch a CDMA2000 1xEV-DO network service in the Washington D.C. area supporting data rates up to 2.4 Mbps. Most users can expect average data speeds of 300-800 kbps. The planned launch this summer follows a trial of 1xEV-DO technology completed by Verizon and Lucent in November 2002.
