Sprint selected the Tellabs 7100 optical transport system to deploy wavelength-based services to its local, long-distance and wireless customers. The Tellabs 7100 system is a DWDM platform that scales up to 64 wavelengths and offers the ability to carry private line, GigE, TDM and SAN services. The Tellabs 7100 system is being deployed in Sprint's North Carolina and Florida networks. Financial terms were not disclosed. Tellabs also supplies other equipment to Sprint, including its Tellabs 3000 voice-quality enhancement systems, Tellabs 5000 digital cross-connects, Tellabs 6340 switch nodes and Tellabs 6500 transport switches.
