AMCC Shows Electronic Compensator for Extending Laser Reach

Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) is demonstrating electronic compensation technology in combination with 1310 nm and 1550 nm distributed feedback lasers (DFB) as a viable means for extending link distances to greater than 60 km. AMCC is also showing a Physical Layer (PHY) evaluation system featuring off-the-shelf 10 Gbps, small form factor, pluggable modules (XFP). The PHY with XFP evaluation system verifies the interoperability and performance of AMCC's 10G PHY devices.
