ADVA Introduces Slimline FSP 3000 Metro Optical Chassis

ADVA Optical Networking introduced a Slimline chassis version of its Fiber Service Platform (FSP) 3000 product. The new chassis offers two channel card slots instead of the eight slots available in the full-scale FSP 3000 for Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, or any application between 100 Mbps and 10 Gbps. It could be used for point-to-point or feeder connections between customer premise sites and metro rings. The Slimline supports distances up to 80 km without regeneration, and integrated Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFAs) and regenerators enable transport up to 500 km. ADVA said the smaller platform would help address carrier CAPEX cutbacks.
