Telehouse opens 5th data centre at London Docklands campus

Telehouse International opened its fifth data centre in London, Telehouse South.

Located in Europe’s iconic and most connected data centre campus in London Docklands, Blackwall Yard, Telehouse South is the provider’s largest facility. The new data centre offers access to more than 800 connectivity partners.

The first floor of colocation space at Telehouse South, which has come online today, provides the capacity for up to 668 racks and 2MW of power, with a further upgrade to 2.7MW for an additional data hall scheduled for the end of 2023. At full buildout, the 31,000 sqm facility will provide 12,000 sqm of colocation space and a total power capacity of 18MW.

The ten-story data centre is Telehouse’s most ambitious infrastructural and aesthetic refurbishment to-date, with the first phase of the project completed in less than 12 months from acquisition. At full capacity, Telehouse will have invested £223 million into its development.

Commenting on the Telehouse South opening, Seigo Fukuhara, European Bloc Chief and Managing Director, KDDI Europe and Telehouse Europe says: “London Docklands remains an important strategic location for us and one of the most critical interconnection points in the world. As businesses continue to accelerate their digital transformation post-pandemic and demand for digital services grows, Telehouse South offers enterprises greater efficiency through scalable hybrid cloud infrastructure, with faster access to data and applications and the flexibility to grow.”

LINX and Telehouse NYIIX interconnection goes live in U.S.

TELEHOUSE NYIIX and the London Internet Exchange (LINX) activated their new joint U.S. interconnection service, bringing together two major Internet Exchange Points (IXP). The route between NYIIX in New York and LINX NoVA — a fast-growing interconnection platform based out of Ashburn, Manassas and Reston in Northern Virginia — is now officially live.

The new service interconnects the entities’ mutual ecosystems, empowering members of each IXP with expanded peering opportunities. The partnership also provides member networks with a redundant and resilient route from New York to Northern Virginia.

Akio Sugeno, VP of Engineering for TELEHOUSE NYIIX, says “This partnership combines the robust resources of two advantageous peering fabrics, making the whole even greater than the sum of its parts. Empowering data and IT is about getting data where it needs to go as efficiently as possible, and we’re proud to be architecting the solution that achieves that for our growing array of members. We look forward to seeing how this service helps customers thrive in the digital economy.”

Telehouse Expands Cloud Interconnection to U.S.

Telehouse, a global provider of data centres, Internet exchanges and managed IT services, has announced the launch of Telehouse Cloud Link, which is currently available in the EMEA region, in the U.S.

Telehouse Cloud Link is a multi-cloud connectivity exchange that enables enterprises to manage access to multiple cloud services through a single, dedicated private connection.

Telehouse Cloud Link is designed to help customers simplify hybrid cloud infrastructures and accelerate data transfer between their network and cloud services by establishing direct, private connections to multiple cloud service providers, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform, as well as network on-demand including Teleshous's own NYIIX and LAIIX.

Telehouse launched the Telehouse Cloud Link connectivity exchange in March, with availability due from April this year. The service was launched via an agreement with cloud connectivity service Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute, through a direct connection into the Telehouse London Docklands campus.

The availability of Microsoft ExpressRoute expands the connectivity available at Telehouse London Docklands, which provides a location for enterprises and service providers to build their hybrid IT solutions, and for cloud providers to host infrastructure.

In January, Telehouse announced it had been selected by UNIFI-IX, a new Internet exchange, to host its services across the London Docklands campus. UNIFI-IX was established in 2016 with the aim of creating a global network for the exchange of traffic, either locally or globally, via a single port of entry to the exchange. Members can also create private VLAN's across the network regardless of geographical location.

Telehouse owns and operates 48 data centres worldwide, including two data centres in New York at 85 Tenth Avenue in Manhattan and 7 Teleport Drive in Staten Island, New York, as well as a facility in California located in downtown Los Angeles at 626 Wilshire Blvd.
